Some people may appear tired or severe while feeling perfectly fine. This appearance is often caused by eyebrows that tend to droop downward, pulling the upper eyelids with them.
This issue results from tissue relaxation due to aging. An eyebrow lift can correct this problem. Similarly, the placement of barbed threads (such as Aptos©) can offer another solution.
How is the procedure performed?
One technique involves making small incisions above the eyebrows in a skin fold: by removing excess skin, the eyebrows are lifted. Alternatively, a small incision can be made in the scalp and a small opening at the eyebrow level.
How long does the procedure take?
The surgery lasts about one hour, is performed under local anesthesia, and patients can go home the same day.
What are the aftereffects?
Minor swelling and bruising may appear in the first days, typically disappearing within a week. After suture removal, scars may be slightly red; this coloration will fade in the following weeks, making the scars nearly invisible over time.
How long do the results last?
Generally several years.
What about suspension threads?
They represent an interesting alternative to surgery (see chapter on “barbed threads”).
